ATMs, currency exchange and SIM cards at Marrakech Airport

Last updated:

Treat cash and mobile data as two separate arrival decisions. Check the current fee and exchange quote before withdrawing or changing money, and confirm device compatibility and offer conditions before buying a SIM or eSIM. Airport directory listings do not guarantee a working ATM, an open desk or an available mobile package.

Where can I look for bank and exchange services?

First-hand airport observations identified ATMs associated with Banque Populaire, Attijariwafa Bank and Al Barid Bank, with the Al Barid Bank ATM near the exit. Two currency-exchange bureaux were observed. Inwi, Orange and Maroc Telecom counters were observed near the passenger exit before leaving the terminal. These observations describe presence, not guaranteed current operation, accepted cards, fees, exchange rates, SIM stock or package prices. Follow current signs and check the displayed terms before making a transaction.

Before travelling, decide which task you actually need to complete: withdraw dirhams with a card, exchange cash, or obtain a quote for a particular currency. This makes it easier to ask the right question after arrival. Follow current airport signage and finish the required arrival procedures before leaving the area assigned to your journey. Use the Airport Guide for wider arrival orientation.

The ONDA directory consulted on 6 October 2026 lists Banque Centrale Populaire and Al Barid Bank in the public hall. Confirm the specific service you need; a bank name is not a working-ATM guarantee.

Global Exchange’s Marrakech branch page, checked on 6 October 2026, places exchange desks beside check-in in public departures and in passenger-only arrivals baggage reclaim. It lists 24-hour opening; reconfirm current operation. This provider information does not identify an ATM or a SIM counter.

What should I check before using an airport ATM?

Read the machine’s displayed terms and check the charges your own bank applies to overseas withdrawals. Availability, limits and card acceptance can change, and no airport-wide fee or withdrawal amount is verified here. If the terms are unclear, pause before accepting the transaction and use your bank’s current guidance.

Check the amount requested, the currency shown and any exchange choice offered by the machine. Keep your PIN private, avoid assistance from an unknown person and retain a transaction record if needed. These are practical precautions, not a claim that a specific machine is unsafe. We do not label any airport ATM free, cheapest or guaranteed to contain cash. An unsuccessful withdrawal does not establish that every other machine will behave the same way.

How do I compare a currency exchange quote?

Ask for the final amount you would receive for the cash you are exchanging, including any stated commission. Compare the same starting amount and currency, rather than comparing two headline rates with different conditions. This guide gives no fixed airport exchange rate and does not identify a permanently cheapest counter.

Ask whether the quote applies to your actual notes and whether an additional condition changes the total. If you want a receipt or information about exchanging unused cash later, ask before completing the purchase. Do not assume a refund or buy-back promise from a shop sign. A directory listing is evidence that the operator lists a provider; it does not validate today’s rate, opening time or service terms.

For your arrival budget, start with the transport you have chosen. Check the taxi and transfer guide or the Bus 19 guide for your chosen transport. Do not infer a bus fare, a taxi payment method or a rental deposit from the amount of cash another visitor chose to withdraw.

Can I prepare a SIM or eSIM before arrival?

Check the provider’s current offer, your device’s compatibility and the activation instructions before buying. Maroc Telecom and Orange publish eSIM information, but this does not prove an airport kiosk is open or that every online offer is suitable for every visitor. The purchase channel and eligibility need checking for the offer you select.

An eSIM is not automatically a complete replacement for your usual phone service. Compare whether the offer includes data only, calls, a local number, hotspot use and the validity period you need. Check any identification or registration steps directly with the operator. Keep the order information and instructions accessible so that your plan does not depend entirely on receiving an email after arrival without a connection.

For a physical SIM, check how it fits your phone and what happens to your existing line. If keeping access to an existing number matters, plan for that before swapping cards or changing phone settings. We do not promise a free SIM, a particular data allowance, instant activation or an airport-wide price. A photograph of a stand would not be enough to establish those conditions.

What if an ATM or mobile desk is unavailable?

Prepare more than one way to make the essential next step. Ask your transport or accommodation provider about its actual payment and contact requirements before departure. Keep the destination address and confirmation details available offline. A backup should be based on a verified need, not on a claim that every airport service is open around the clock.

For connectivity, read the facilities guide’s Wi-Fi section and follow current airport instructions. A public Wi-Fi listing is not a guarantee of speed, continuous access or the ability to complete a financial transaction. For money, consult your own bank if a card transaction fails; do not provide card credentials to a stranger who offers to fix it. This page does not substitute for bank support or operator customer service.

Arrival checklist for money and mobile data

Before departure, record your chosen transport, its payment requirement, your bank’s contact route and the details of any mobile purchase. Keep the information on the device and in another usable form if you need it. At the airport, compare the actual quote or fee, confirm the product conditions and keep the relevant receipt. Avoid buying an offer just because its name resembles one you researched earlier.

The cash and connectivity choices are separate from Fast Track, Meet & Greet and lounge access. No bank fee, SIM credit or exchange transaction is included simply because airport assistance has been booked. Return to the Marrakech Airport Guide for the overall journey and use the provider’s current information for the final purchase decision.
